Email

We're offering an Email account for free to friends/acquaintances who "can't/don't want to" selfhost their own service.
Your email address will be like `username@woodpeckersnest.space`
You'll have 1GB reserved disk space exclusively for your email account; there are checks in place which will send you a notification in case you're going beyond the quota and let you free up some space, before getting locked-out (meaning: you won't be able to create more files, so your inbox will fail to receive new mail, unless some disk space is freed).
Email accounts are terminated after 1 year (365 days) of inactivity. To keep it active, login on our webmail or with your preferred email client.
When you first set your new inbox up, most email clients will autodetect mail settings, so no manual configuration should be required. In case you need to configure the account by yourself, here's the relevant settings for our service:

IMAP: woodpeckersnest.space:993 (SSL/TLS - normal password)
SMTP: woodpeckersnest.space:587 (STARTTLS - username (only the localpart, without the domain) and normal password)

⚠️
BigG (Google), Hotmail and other "well-known" providers block messages coming from the ".space" TLD as spam and they don't even reach destination (this is something out of wpn's control because we're not blacklisted anywhere, it's just them being "them"). We're using an external relay to send from our .space TLD to these providers, to get a better outcome, but it's not a paid plan, so we are limited by number of emails/month - keep this in mind, please. If messages still end up in Gmail's spam folder, follow these instructions: https://support.google.com/a/answer/7663057?hl=en#zippy=%2Cactions-all-users-should-take

  • For your remote Calendars and Address Books we use "Radicale", a Cal/Card-DAV server.

You'll get instructions on how to set-up/use them after successful registration.
