Shell

We're offering a shell account for free to friends who "can't/don't want to" selfhost their own service.
A shell account at WPN provides you a few services
Feel free to use this shell to do most of the operations you would normally perform on your own PC, to experiment with code, run and test it.. You name it.
If you need any package installed, just ask. Ports are filtered by an external firewall, but they can also be opened upon request: this service will be handed with extreme care, only to really trusted people.

You can login via ssh, using your private key which is tied to the public one you provided us at the time of account request:
 ssh -p `port` username@woodpeckersnest.space
Password authentication is not available through SSH.
You have 2GB total available disk space and you can use up to 1GB of that space for your mailbox; doing so, you'll still have 1GB free on disk for other purposes. Additional services like file sharing and cloud do get their own disk quota.
There are 2 special directories in your  ~  (home dir) - please don't delete them; if you're not using any of the following services, just leave the directories empty:
  1.  public_gemini : This is your gemini:// capsule root folder
  2.  ftp : This is your FTP home - Sharing content on this space with anybody else is discouraged, this is not a public space, it's just for your own convenience.

You can connect to your gemini capsule with any compatible gemini browser, like `lagrange`, or from @wpn shell by using `clagrange` textual client and `gtl` tinylog reader:
gemini://woodpeckersnest.space/~username/
Create your index.gmi and other pages in the `public_gemini` directory in your home to populate your capsule. `gtl` comes with some default settings for all users, but feel free to adjust them (especially gtl's subs file). You can find config files in: ~/.config/ - each subdirectory is an app with config files inside. We also have a local @wpn Tinylog, populated with all local capsuleers' Tinylogs. If you're going to create your personal Tinylog, let us know its address, so we can manually populate @wpn's subs.

You can connect to the FTP service with any compatible client, this way:

host: `woodpeckersnest.space`
port: 21
logon type: normal
user: username
password: password
require explicit FTP over TLS
transfer mode: default
charset: autodetect (or UTF-8)
